expeditions

We have very considerable experience of expeditions in the greater ranges including easy and difficult first ascent, 8000m peaks, and high standard technical climbs.  We are planning a trip in Oct/Nov to Sikkim where we have been climbing for the past 6 years.  Our groups have climbed virgin summits and made first ascents.  For those with only limited time there is a two week option.

Exploratory mountaineering in Sikkim

This is an opportunity to form a small group to explore and climb in the Lachung valley of North Sikkim.  The main objective is an ascent of Brumkhangshe (5635m) which is one of the ‘Alpine Peaks’ of Sikkim (the north ridge of which we climbed in 2007).  The Lachung valley has many 5000m+ peaks, many of which do not have names and have not been climbed.  Many of these peaks offer ascents that are relatively straightforward (i.e. around alpine PD) and can be explored and climbed in lightweight alpine style.  The area is accessed by one of the border roads, and a special permit is required from the Government of Sikkim.  At the head of the Lachung valley is a range of 6000m+ peaks close to the border with Tibet.  The 2 week programme allows enough time for an ascent of Brumkhangshe, the 3 week programme allows enough time for additional exploratory ascents.
